(higher) risk pregnancies

Certain pregnancies are categorized as higher risk pregnancies. For couples that have become pregnant after fertility treatment, the most likely examples of this are multiple pregnancy and pregnancy in a woman aged 35 or older.

These pregnancies can have a slightly greater chance of the general complications that occur in every pregnancy, as well as specific risks.

This section reviews a number of complications that can occur in multiple pregnancy, and in a women who is over 35 years of age. For every pregnancy, it is wise to be fully informed of the possible complications that may arise and how these may be recognised.
